Care Instructions – Laser Engraved Cork Coasters
Laser-engraved cork coasters are pretty low-maintenance, but there are a few things you can do to keep them looking good and lasting longer:
General Care
- Dry use is best – Cork is naturally absorbent, so it handles condensation well, but avoid soaking it or leaving it wet for long periods.
- Let them fully dry after use before stacking or storing.
- Keep them out of direct sunlight for long periods—UV can fade the engraved design.
Cleaning
- Spot clean only – Do not submerge in water.
- Wipe with a damp cloth and mild soap if needed.
- For stubborn stains, use a soft toothbrush with diluted dish soap, then blot dry with a towel.
- Allow to air-dry completely (flat, not standing up).
| Avoid | Why |
|---|---|
| Soaking or running under water | Cork swells and can warp |
| Dishwashers | Heat + water destroys cork |
| Strong chemicals / alcohol cleaners | Can discolor and dry out cork |
| Scrubbing hard or using abrasives | Wears down the engraved surface |
| Storing while damp | Can lead to mold or curled edges |
Optional Protection
- If you'd like extra durability, especially for heavy use:
- Apply a light coat of food-safe mineral oil or beeswax conditioner to seal the surface (not required, but helpful).
- Let it soak in, then wipe off any excess and buff dry.
- Do not use polyurethane or anything that creates a shiny plastic-like coating—that will reduce cork’s absorbency.
Storage Tips
- Store flat, not on edge.
- If stacking, make sure they're fully dry first.
- Keep in a cool, dry place.
Care Instructions – Laser Engraved Stone Coasters
Thank you for choosing our handcrafted stone coasters. With proper care, they will last for many years while preserving their engraved detail.
Cleaning
- Wipe with a damp cloth or soft sponge.
- For tougher stains, use mild dish soap and warm water.
- Avoid abrasive scrubbers or harsh chemicals, as they may dull the engraving or finish.
- Do not place in the dishwasher.
Use & Protection
- Safe for hot and cold drinks.
- The natural stone surface is absorbent (if unsealed) and may darken temporarily when wet.
- If your coasters have a cork, felt, or rubber backing, avoid soaking in water.
Maintenance (Optional)
- To enhance color and contrast, a light wipe with mineral oil or stone conditioner can be applied occasionally—use sparingly.
- If sealed, re-seal every 6–12 months depending on use (food-safe stone sealers only).
Storage
- Store flat in a dry place.
- Avoid dropping or stacking with heavy objects—they are stone and can chip or crack.
